Rearcross welcomed Holycross on a fine Saturday morning, with the home side looking to continue their good start to the league campaign. Rearcross started the brightest with Oran Connors forcing a good save from the Holycross Keeper. Patrick Dawson went close next when his shot rattled the goal post. Rearcross didn’t have to wait long to find the net when an Oran Connors corner fell to feet of Patrick Dawson who took his chance very well. With ten minutes remaining in first half Rea doubled their advantage when Stephen Rochford capitalised on a defence mistake to blast the ball home. Rearcross flew out of the traps in the second half when a great team moved involving Oran Connors and Stephen Rochford ended with a tidy finish from Eoin Sheldon. Sheldon doubled his tally when a mistake by the Holycross Keeper left Eoin when an empty net. Holycross showed great character and their hard work paid off mid way through the second half when they pulled a goal back. However Rearcross proved too strong for the away side and Patrick Dawson netted soon after to restore the three goal advantage. Rea were rewarded a penalty with minutes remaining which gave Ryan Moser the opportunity to open his Rearcross account which he took with a fine finish into the corner.
